I worked at the Tulsa location very close to the beginning. I played the role of "Ganymede Jones," a science fiction character I invented for a radio series. My favorite job was as a Host, welcoming dozens of people standing outside in the middle of winter to the world's best example of synthetic reality- when I basically told all those freezing people about how they were about to enter the world's largest and most complexly constructed hologram- sort of a Matrix movie rap (long before the Matrix film series). I truly dazzled (in my own opinion) as a host, but when I was promoted to a Waiter's Assistant, I really sucked, dropping the big tray three times when I came in from the kitchen to the dining hall. I will admit, for personal reasons, I got very depressed at one point and my W.A. performance got even worse. I'll never forget the day that Rasputin and Daffy Duck came up to me and threatened to beat the #@*%! out of me if I didn't snap to and do my job. I knew they were right- that I was doing a really bad job- but I didn't have the concentration to do anything right during those days. So I quit, thinking things are really bad when you get strong armed by a deranged monk and a cartoon duck in a parking lot in the middle of winter. But, when I look back, I generally remember the zaniest, the shocked and enthralled customers and that incredible salad bar car. What was the model of the car anyway? I see it in my dreams, but I can't remember what it was.

I was a sr in high school when my 4-H team went to a national competition in Oklahoma City. The coach took us to Molly Murphy's because he had heard it would be a lot of fun for some high school girls. I remember doing the car wash and hearing the potty train. My coach's wife and one of the girls I was with went to the bathroom ,after watching others go while being teased, by themselves. We told one of the servers and they went to the bathroom and starting pounding on the door and yelling to the top of their lungs---Did you fall in? Are you alright? until they came out with red faces. I always hoped to go back someday. Memories I still talk about after 20 yrs...

We had all our birthdays there for the free steak dinner. We called ourselves "The Shriners" (no relation to real ones.)
It was Evans, Steve, Bill, James, and me. As each got married they would take the wives there with horrible results. My brother took his wife there and she was at end of the salad bar. She put a dipper back in the wrong place and a referee came running and blew a whistle. He yelled, "Illegal procedure, dipper placement error, 10 yard penalty, redo down." He dumped her salad in the waste can and told her to start over. She was mad and is still to this day. So when a new place opened in Las Vegas called, "Dick's Last Resort" I invited her out to experience their antics. She found out they do many of the tricks as Mollys and refuses to even go near the Excalibur Casino.

I went to the old tulsa MM with my boss at the time, he was dressed in a suit and tie, the waiter comes up to the table with a giant pr of scissors and proceeds to cut off his tie. If he wasn't in such shock he might have been mad, but we instead laughed hysterically. Good Times! That place was outrageous

I used to go to the one in Tulsa every time I came to town on business. Great food but sooooo much fun. I always thought Orlando would be a great place for MM's. Thanks for the memories.

I must have been 10 years old the first time I visted Molly Murphys. As a kid I loved the atmosphere waiting to be seated in the disco room watching all the characters interacting with the patrons and embarrasing the heck out of them. I joined the service at 18 and when I returned to Oklahoma City to get married I took my bride to Molly Murphys for our Anniversary dinner. I just felt this was a place that she had to see and I'm so glad I took her before the place closed down. I've thought long and hard about opening a restaurant like Molly Murphys when I retire from the military in a few years. I still have an old Molly Murpheys soviner glass from that last night I visted. Would love to see this place open again someday!

Never have i ever seen another lobster in the glasses and nose mustash. That place was wonderful an the workers you had were the best. I have to tell you that was one of the most best times in my life thankyou so much for the wonderful experience at a dinning resturant.

I grew up in Altus and in the 4th grade I made it to the state spelling bee. It was a big deal to make a trip "all the way" to OKC and I remember going to Molly Murphy's after the bee. (I came in ~17th out of 34 contestants) I haven't been to OK since I moved away 23 years ago. I was looking to visit and I tried looking up Molly Murphy's, but I see that it's closed. At least I have the memory of my one trip there.
